A leopard, suffering from Cataract, is about to undergo an eye-surgery, proposed to be conducted by experienced, senior veterinarians. It’s just the matter of requisite permissions arriving from relevant authorities.
The city of Pune can now boast of a specialised unit in the field of Vet Care. Pune will soon get its first veterinary ophthalmology specialty clinic and operation theatre with Vivet Multispeciality Clinic launching ‘The Eye Vet’, their first center at Baner–Pashan link road. The clinic will offer medical and surgical services to pet animals like cats and dogs, horses and other animals too.
The services to be offered, include Ophthalmic Consultation, surgeries, cataract surgeries, Equines which includes a visit to stud farms and attending to complicated or rare cases also. The clinic is a state-of-art center with advanced diagnostics, modern equipment and trained staff informed veteran ophthalmologist and founder of Vivet Multispecialty Clinic Dr Kasturi Bhadsavle.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Kasturi Bhadsavle said that though medical facilities for pets have leapfrogged in India, there is a dire need for super specialty medical services like ophthalmology. Pets today are not just companions, but family members.
With the conglomeration of nuclear families in urban India and rising disposable incomes, people today are demanding advanced diagnostics and state-of-art services for their pets. Citizen in Pune are highly passionate about their pets, but there needs to be a lot of awareness about the health issues in pets and the risk factors which might result in eye ailments, Dr Kasturi said. The Eye Vet Clinic will also hold workshops to make aware pet owners on ailments and preventive measures.
Apart from pets, The Eye Vet Clinic will also provide ophthalmology for horses, birds, and wild animals in the zoo.
