Mahindra dedicates 75 oxygen-bed hospital for COVID-19 at Chakan

MAHINDRA Chakan Plant., (a part of the $19.4 billion Mahindra Group), has dedicated 75 Oxygen-Bed Hospital for COVID-19 patients, to commemorate its 75th Founders Day. Mahindra’s Chakan plant along with the Partners Habitat for Humanity has set up this 75 Oxygen-Bed Hospital at Mhalunge Village in the Chakan MIDC area. The hospital was inaugurated by Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, District Collector, Pune in the presence of Ayush Prasad, CEO, Zilla Parishad, Pune, Nasir Deshmukh, Mahindra Chakan Plant Head and other dignitaries.

This will be a first-line care centre to avail free of cost treatment for COVID-19 patients, in the industrial belt of Khed and Haveli Talukas, which is considered a COVID hotspot. The facility offers special medical care to infected as well as suspected cases, which have been identified through contact tracing.

The establishment of this 75 Oxygen-Bed Hospital facility is a tribute to the Founders of the Mahindra Group, for the vision they set to support the cause of the nation and communities in which the company operates. True to its ‘Rise DNA’ Mahindra has relentlessly been pursuing all efforts to combat COVID-19 and mobilised its resources and industry expertise to secure the wellbeing of its society. This is also in line with Mahindra’s philosophy of giving back to society.

The Mahindra Chakan plant provided support during the nation-wide lockdown through massive food distribution drives, by manufacturing and distributing face masks, face shields & hand sanitisers to Government officials, Police administration and Hospitals in the Pune region.

Owing to the rapid spike in the number of COVID19 cases in Khed and Haveli talukas for the last few weeks, Mahindra came forward to support this noble cause of COVID-19 relief work. Currently, patients travel to Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal areas for treatment. The rising fatality rate of critical patients was reported due to lack of timely oxygen support. This new facility will provide relief to the community which is currently struggling for proper medical care.
